#32 - Transit : Meredith Crawford
Lauren and Jeff welcome East Texas Singer/Songwriter Meredith Crawford into the Groove Lab to talk about her musical journey, and finding her voice. Check her out at www.MeredithCrawford.com “Meredith Crawford has successfully taken something with a very definitive shape, and made it seem shapeless. Historically speaking, that kind of dreamy musical witchcraft has only been successfully accomplished by the likes of timeless wonder-women like Patsy Cline, Stevie Nicks, or the queen: Aretha Franklin; herself.” She was singing harmonies at the young age of 10 from the pew surrounded by strangers, to the Opry circuit around Texas by 16, and had fronted 3 bands by the age of 27. Just shy of 30, she has written over 200 songs, opened for Texas acts such as Hayes Carll, Sunny Sweeney, and Shiny Ribs, and has won several awards including Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year (2 years running), Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year for East Texas. A dark horse in the running, her pinnacle of musical strength is perched upon raw, lyrical honesty delivered through painfully elegant vocals.
