El rock regresa. Si bien, en el año anterior (1997) vimos que el Pop había copado las radios, el rock seguí estando, pero no tan presente en nuestro repaso. En éste año, el rock vuelve a tomar relevancia, sin embargo también acompañan otros géneros que van orbitando, como ser el Hip Hop, el Trip Hop algo de música electrónica y también hay lugar para el Pop.
La originalidad de los temas es la moneda corriente, tanto en éste año, como a lo largo de toda la década (como estuvimos viendo).
