SORD: Q3 Update 13 - DOJ backs NRA in NJ, OH blocks local gun bans, TX bans trans bathrooms, AQAP threats, Tylenol/Pregnancy, Antifa labeled Terrorists, FBI looks at Hand Gestures at TPUSA event.

BLUF: Across the country - In CA, a lawsuit challenged concealed carry permit fees that can reach $2,000. In NJ, the DOJ supported an NRA-backed case against the state’s ban on commonly owned firearms and standard-capacity magazines. In IL, Cook County looks to push for commonly owned weapon ban challenge at the Supreme Court. In LA, the FPC and SAF filed a brief in Reese v. ATF seeking nationwide relief after the federal handgun sales ban for 18–20-year-olds was struck down. In MN, Governor Tim Walz launched his third-term campaign centered on bans for what he calls assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, background checks, and red-flag laws. In OH, a judge ruled state law preempted Columbus from enforcing firearm storage and magazine restrictions. In NC, a veto override vote on permitless carry stalled and was sent back to committee. In TX, Governor Abbott signed a law requiring bathroom use by biological sex in schools, government buildings, prisons, and shelters, with fines up to $125,000 for violations. Nationally - The Attorney General said hate speech targeting would be directed at threats of violence and the Deputy Attorney suggested investigations into protest groups. President Trump announced and then formally designated Antifa as a terrorist organization, ordering federal agencies to disrupt and dismantle their operations and investigate funding streams. The Southern Poverty Law Center released a case study labeling Turning Point USA a hard-right organization while adding them to their “hate map”. The National Counterterrorism Center warned that al Qaeda and AQAP remain threats, urging officials to limit exposure and highlighting risks to crowded venues. The FBI said its investigation into Charlie Kirk’s assassination is ongoing and is now looking at conspiracy theories such as shooting location, other involved, hand gestures, and more. NRA, ASA, and allies challenged federal suppressor registration requirements as unconstitutional under Bruen. The Trump administration linked acetaminophen use in pregnancy and certain vaccine schedules to autism and recommended MMR jabs be separated out.
