God Roars in Judgement

Today’s message from Amos 1:1–15, by Kyle , one of our elders, reminded us that God roars against sin. His voice is not quiet, and His justice is not asleep. “The Lord roars from Zion” tells us that He sees every injustice, every cruelty, every rebellion and nothing escapes His holy gaze. And while we might like to think the problem is only “out there,” the truth is harder: the problem runs through us. Injustice lives in every human heart. We cannot satisfy God’s wrath because we are part of what’s wrong. But here is the beauty of the gospel. God knew we couldn’t save ourselves, so He came to save us. Jesus took the weight of judgment and bore the fire of God’s wrath we deserved so we could be brought near in mercy. This is why the gospel is such good news: God doesn’t leave us in our guilt - He offers us hope. Through Jesus, the roar of judgment becomes a call to grace.
