In episode four, I introduce a new segment titled "Creatives in our Community" and sit down with Honest in 10land as we discuss his journey to becoming an artist. Throughout our conversation, Honest shares who and what inspired him to make music, his journey with therapy, and what message he aims to spread with his rhymes.
In this very overdue episode three, I am joined by one of my best friends, Ginika, whom I met in undergrad. During this episode, we discuss our experiences growing up as first daughters in our Nigerian households, and how it impacted our development. We dive into the importance of emotional intelligence, extending grace, and being understanding in our relationships with our parents, and how our culture plays a huge role in our identities as first daughters.
In episode two I am joined by my lovely friends Ashanti, Deja, Drew, and Ashley. We discuss our experiences associated with the "strong Black woman" trope and explore the recent shift towards Black women seeking a "softer", less stressful lifestyle.
In this first episode, I sit down with practicing life coach and dear friend Ross Nyanga to discuss our personal and familial journeys with mental health. Throughout our conversation, we reflect on our experiences and explore ways we can address mental health in our communities.
