Bukeni has helped put a Congolese warlord behind bars at the International Criminal Court (ICC) releasing more than 360 children from the militia in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
Today Bukeni is the Executive Director of Free the Slaves; and for more than 20 years Bukeni has been helping free slaves including helping women trafficked into domestic servitude in the Middle East and has served as a human rights champion with American, European, and African organizations.
