While there are many that people who, for ideological reasons, want to make it seem like evolution is not widely accepted within the scientific community, this is not actually the case.
One of the major misconceptions about atheists is that we have little or no respect for life. Because we think that all life is some accidental freak of nature, there is no meaning or purpose to it all, and it is all pretty worthless.
Harrison Mumia, the President of Atheists In Kenya Society explains what atheism is. Atheism is not an affirmative belief that there is no god nor does it answer any other question about what a person believes. It is simply a rejection of the assertion that there are gods.
