Michaela Gasteratou - Part 1: Pandemic career switch, leaving software consultancy, retraining from frontend to fullstack engineer, documentation + accessibility
Michaela is a full stack software engineer currently working at a cyber security startup. She switched her career in 2020 and hasn't looked back since! In her spare time, she teaches React to people who want to learn the library or folks looking to change their career to tech.  This episode of the podcast discusses the importance of learning tutorials and frameworks, even if you feel like you don't have the time. The guest argues that it's important to take the time to learn these things, even if it means doing a tutorial at work, because it will pay off in the long run. Amber and Jessie agree and add that sometimes the documentation for these things can be difficult to understand, so it's helpful to have someone to walk you through it. Michaela speaks about changing careers during the pandemic, working on accessibility in her role, and SWE job applications without having a computer science degree. - The importance of learning new frameworks and technologies, even if you feel like you don't have the time - The importance of being able to read and take notes from documentation when transitioning from front end to back end coding - Michaela's journey into the tech industry, beginning with her engineering background and then moving into software Stay up to date by following us on our socials:  LinkedIn: https://uk.linkedin.com/company/glowing-in-tech Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/glowingintech Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/glowingintech TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@glowingintech Work with us: https://forms.gle/eLMUST2puKzuA25c7 Check out Makers and follow them on socials: Website: https://www.makers.tech/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/makersacademy/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/makersacademy Learn more about your ad choices.
