In this session, we discussed what it truly means to live as a sanctuary for God. We explored how our lives should reflect holiness, not just in theory but in our daily choices and actions.
We began by tackling the question of God’s will for our lives. Many of us wrestle with understanding His plan, but we came to the realization that, above all else, God’s will is for us to be holy (Leviticus 20:7-8, 1 Peter 1:15-16). Whether we pursue marriage, a career, or other life goals, everything we do should be dedicated to Him.
We then talked about personalizing holiness and sanctification. We acknowledged that holiness is a state we enter when we give our lives to Christ, but sanctification is a lifelong process. It requires daily decisions to resist sin and live in obedience to God.
To cultivate holiness, we emphasized the need for spiritual disciplines—prayer, worship, Bible study, and accountability. Romans 12:2 and Psalm 119:11 reminded us that we must renew our minds and keep God’s word close to our hearts.
One of the most thought-provoking discussions centered on discernment—how we recognize godly versus ungodly influences in our lives. We shared personal experiences about social settings, music choices, and the subtle ways we can be drawn into worldly patterns. We agreed that being in the world doesn’t mean conforming to it. Instead, we must be intentional about our presence and actions, ensuring that they align with our faith.
Guarding our minds, hearts, and bodies was another key takeaway. Philippians 4:8 challenged us to focus on what is true, honorable, and pure. We reflected on how what we allow into our lives—whether conversations, media, or friendships—shapes us spiritually. The analogy of a well-kept house versus a cluttered, abandoned one helped us see the importance of maintaining spiritual purity.
As we wrapped up, we discussed ways to make holiness personal. Some of us shared how we keep scripture around us, others talked about choosing Christian alternatives in music and entertainment, and we all acknowledged the need to be intentional and self-aware in our faith walk. Accountability was also highlighted as a powerful tool to help us stay on track.
We ended in prayer, asking God to help us choose holiness daily, strengthen our spiritual disciplines, and guard our minds and spirits. This session reminded us that living as a sanctuary isn’t just about avoiding sin—it’s about actively pursuing God and making room for Him in every area of our lives.
