Honduras: the deadliest place to defend the planet
More than 120 Hondurans have been killed since 2010 for defending their rights to their land. Among them was Goldman Environmental Prizewinner, Berta Cáceres, who was murdered in March 2016 for opposing a dam project on her community’s land.
Global Witness has been investigating the political and economic forces that have made Honduras so deadly for those who defend the planet. In this podcast, we hear the stories of people who have lost loved ones, friends and colleagues or have themselves been involved in disputes.
