What is the future of global public health? In turbulent times, will we be ready for the next pandemic? To find out, in this episode Jan Eijking is joined by Professor Ilona Kickbusch, a global public health expert with many years of experience working for the World Health Organisation (WHO). They discuss questions including: how has the WHO dealt with past public health crises? How can it learn from that experience? Ilona Kickbusch shares first-hand experience working for the WHO during the HIV/AIDS epidemic, what lessons the organisation has drawn from tackling some of the world’s most difficult public health crises, and how it can reform to be prepared for future challenges.
