Update: I recently launched my newsletter, The Sheconomist [https://www.sheconomist.com/], and would love for you to subscribe: sheconomist.com - I share so many tools and resources that help young, high-achieving women with radical money and career self-advocacy.  ----- My name is Thamina Stoll and my purpose in life is to be a cheerleader for other women. I’d like to extend a heartfelt invitation to you as we join forces in reclaiming economic power for women in a world that is often structured against us. By first dissecting and eventually closing the knowledge and access gaps that prevent women from achieving financial security, we can take an active role in creating a path toward gender equity. Put simply, the mission of Give Her Dollars is to help women build wealth for themselves and other women. Through engaging, thought-provoking conversations with accomplished female leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs, I want to arm women worldwide with the confidence and tools to become financially independent. Systemic oppression won’t be solved overnight, but a wealthy woman can walk out of (almost) every room she feels uncomfortable in and create opportunities for other women along the way. By supporting one another in this pursuit, we can work together to ultimately dismantle the systemic barriers that hold us back and create a brighter future for all women. Overcoming Sexism in the Beverage Industry: Why We Need a Paradigm Shift in Venture Capital with the Founder of Ego Tequila
Update: I recently launched my newsletter, The Sheconomist [https://www.sheconomist.com/], and would love for you to subscribe: sheconomist.com - I share so many tools and resources that help young, high-achieving women with radical money and career self-advocacy. ---- In this week's episode, we have the pleasure of sitting down with Rikki Kelly [https://www.linkedin.com/in/rikki-kelly-885271110], the CEO and leader behind Ego Tequila [https://www.egotequila.com/welcome]. Rikki's journey from launching Ego Tequila in July 2021 to its remarkable growth, with distribution expanding to over 60 stores across Texas and aiming for over 300 by 2024, is nothing short of inspiring. Our conversation with Rikki delves into the intricate dynamics of entrepreneurship, particularly highlighting the challenge of unlearning societal norms that discourage vulnerability, especially prevalent among Black women.  As Rikki shares her experiences, she sheds light on the unforgiving nature of the tequila industry, particularly for women, recounting instances of encountering sexism and adversity from male counterparts. Despite facing such challenges, Rikki emphasizes the importance of resilience and having a robust support system, acknowledging the invaluable support she received from fellow women in the industry. From bootstrapping initially, to navigating the complexities of landing angel investors and venture capitalists, Rikki reflects on the steep learning curve and highlights the need for a paradigm shift in the venture capital landscape, advocating for measures to ensure genuine support and commitment from investors towards underrepresented founders.
