In-person group projects have been virtually non-existent the last few years (thanks, covid). Now that we are back in the classroom, the Selected Topics in Social Psychology Class at Memorial University decided to take on a fun semester-long podcast project where we talk about psychological concepts that interest us. We hope you enjoy listening to our group discussions throughout the episodes of this podcast, maybe you’ll even learn something new.

Someone’s Watching You: How Movies Turned Stalkers into Hopeless Romantics

Many of us enjoy a good romcom every now and then. But have you ever considered that some of the leads in your favourite romcoms are… super problematic? Like, bordering on stalker problematic?  Looking at you, Edward Cullen. On this episode of Get (Social) PSYCHED! your hosts Juli, Morgan, Emma, and Brittney unpack the common portrayal of stalking as romantic and desirable in popular media. Stay tuned as we unpack the psychology behind stalkers and how the media’s romanticization of this behaviour translates into real life off the screen.

Check out our amazing blog for more information HERE.
