Get Offset is hosted by Emily Harris and touches on a different topic each week. From new products to controversies in the music and guitar industries, Emily brings her years of music business experience to audio essays and discussions. Having worked heavily in live music and the musical instrument industries, as well as being a performer in bands covered on NPR and Big Takeover, Emily and her guests are dedicated to offsetting the status quo of guitar and gear culture. The rise and fall of Ryan Adams

I’ve said before that one of my biggest musical influences, period, is Ryan Adams. I suppose I should probably say “was” Ryan Adams.

From the time I was 12 until probably 2015 or so, I was an enormous supporter of his music. I had all the albums, some of the books, a lot of the 45s, I even went to his art show at the Morrison Hotel Gallery in 2009. I still have a print of one of this paintings hanging on my wall.

But when the New York Times published a Me Too article about him in 2019, I just…stopped listening.

This week, I dive into the rise and fall of Ryan Adams and how he may have spent his ninth life in 2019. Or, who knows, maybe he has another one on the way.
