Hallo Freunde, ich bin Flo. Willkommen zur neuen Episode von 'German Bites – Deutsche Häppchen'. Heute sprechen wir über Grimms Märchen – Geschichten, die jeder kennt, und die einen großen Einfluss auf die deutsche Kultur und Sprache haben. Wir schauen uns an, wie diese Märchen entstanden sind, was sie so besonders macht, und warum sie oft dunkler sind, als viele denken.


"Die Brüder Jakob und Wilhelm Grimm waren nicht nur Märchensammler, sondern auch Pioniere der deutschen Sprachwissenschaft. Sie lebten im frühen 19. Jahrhundert und hatten das Ziel, die kulturelle Identität Deutschlands durch Sprache und Geschichten zu bewahren. Zu dieser Zeit war Deutschland noch kein einheitliches Land, sondern bestand aus vielen kleinen Staaten. Die Brüder Grimm wollten mit ihrer Arbeit die deutsche Kultur stärken und zeigen, wie reich die Traditionen und Geschichten waren.

Ihre Arbeit begann nicht mit Märchen, sondern mit der Sprache selbst. Die Brüder Grimm erstellten das 'Deutsche Wörterbuch', ein umfangreiches Werk, das die Bedeutung, Herkunft und Verwendung deutscher Wörter erklären sollte. Es war eine lebenslange Aufgabe, die sie jedoch nicht vollständig abschließen konnten. Ihre Liebe zur Sprache führte sie zu Volksmärchen, da diese ein wichtiger Teil der mündlichen Überlieferung und der Volkskultur waren.

Um ihre Sammlung zu erstellen, reisten sie durch viele Regionen Deutschlands und hörten sich mündliche Überlieferungen an. Oft waren es Bäuerinnen, Handwerker oder ältere Menschen, die die Geschichten erzählten. Diese Märchen waren ein wichtiger Teil der Volkskultur und wurden von Generation zu Generation weitergegeben. Die Brüder schrieben sie auf, bearbeiteten sie aber nicht stark, da sie die Authentizität der Geschichten bewahren wollten.


Im Jahr 1812 veröffentlichten die Brüder Grimm ihre erste Sammlung unter dem Titel 'Kinder- und Hausmärchen'. Die erste Ausgabe enthielt berühmte Geschichten wie 'Schneewittchen', 'Rotkäppchen' und 'Dornröschen'. Doch diese Märchen waren in ihrer ursprünglichen Form oft düster und grausam. Zum Beispiel endete 'Aschenputtel' mit einer Strafe für die bösen Stiefschwestern: Ihnen wurden die Augen von Vögeln ausgepickt. In 'Hänsel und Gretel' wird die Hexe in einem Ofen verbrannt – eine Szene, die nichts für schwache Nerven ist.. und heutzutage auch nichts für Kinder.
