Welcome to Game On JOY 94.9’s Home of Sport every Wednesday from 6-7pm where you’ll hear where you can get your game on! This show is all about showcasing where sport is safe, inclusive, welcoming and fun for the Rainbow community!
We welcome Ben Cork, National Program Manager Pride in Sport, to the show for our monthly Pride In Sport update and talk inclusion at the Sydney Marathon, countering homophobia in sport, the exciting Pride in Sport Summit and focus areas, and that nominations are now open for the Pride In Sport Awards for 2026! We jet off to New Zealand to chat with Joel McDonald on the organising committee of the NZ Falcons – New Zealand’s gay and inclusive ruby club, to talk Purchas Cup 2025! All the fun starts on Thursday across four days for the NZ Falcons, Perth Rams, Brisbane Hustlers, Sydney Convicts, Adelaide University Sharks and Melbourne Chargers! (Starts 13:10)
And we welcome Steve Chelo, President, the Melbourne Spikers Volleyball Club, to the JOY Sport Studio! Exciting times – this year the club celebrates 40 years and they are having a gala ball at the San Remo Ballroom on Friday 12 September with DJ Jason Conti, Mum the drag queen, Ms Lazy Susan – winner of Drag Race Down Under Season 4 and hosted by Frock Hudson. And it’s a sell out! But there are heaps of other fun social events on across the coming months including the Summer Slam so join in and get your volleyball game on! (Starts 26:2)
To close the show, Who is getting their game on? Luka who has been taking part in the All Gender Games and absolutely loving it! The All Gender Games is a social soccer competition inclusive of queer, trans, gender-diverse individuals and their allies run by Director Cat Houng where the emphasis is on fun, connection, and inclusivity rather than competition or gender quotas.
