One of the daily challenges parents face is "What's for dinner?" Sometimes we'll go for a tried-and-true recipe, and sometimes we're willing to try something new. Stephanie Valentine has written a cookbook. I tried a couple of recipes in it, and the whole family, even The Oppressed, liked it. Thank you, Stephanie!
My family took a trip to the Dominican Republic last summer. The highlight for me was sharing a room with The Boy, who wasn't as excited about this. We had a lot of fun, had a lot of adventures and brought home some great memories. Here's a little of what happened that week.
Wife took The Boy and his friends, the Fruit Loops, on vacation. She's a brave soul for doing this.
It reminded me of a time I went on vacation with friends when we were in high school. It was a vacation that created great memories for us, and maybe some scary memories for "P" and "D".
Lai Holmes has written a book about Joanna Gaines, a journalist who has to go back to her hometown to handle her late aunt's affairs, including a bookstore. A quick visit to handle some affairs turns into a need to avoid becoming the latest murder victim in the small town of Whispering Pines.
Sometimes, we need to go back to where we grew up. Sometimes we want to go back there. Whatever these reasons are, "going back home" can mean different things for different people. Some hate it, others relish it. Which one are you?
Some random thoughts in my way to work. You like movies, I like movies. With everything happening this week, I wanted to share my thoughts on movies that would make us laugh and bring people together. What are these movies, you ask? Listen and learn! (Sorry for the poor sound quality. This was done on my phone in my car.) #movies #politics #comedy #funny #America
Charlie Kirk's murder is a warning for everyone in America. It's time to get back to civil discourse and an exchange of ideas without threats of violence or a fear of retribution. It doesn't take a lot of effort, but the upside is promising, and the opposite can be frightening.
People are talking about the Phillies Karen. As a father, here is my take on the situation.
My thoughts on parenting and adoption after watching a video from “That Dad Blog”.
An episode about Dominic Gentile and his book. I wrote about this at https://gregthebrave.blogspot.com/2025/09/live-boldly-by-dominic-gentile-for.html
My children needed to get to different places for different reasons. This turned into a self-directed, fifty-cent tour of New Bedford and Fall River, MA.
Coaching flag football includes a lot of parts, including no one gets hurt from celebrating touchdowns or going after their teammates. There is also the chance someone might intercept a pass intended for their teammate. It's fun.

I thought a broken swing set could turn into a bonding session with my son. It did... sorta.

Family time can involve a movie sometimes. Picking a movie can be an activity in itself. Me picking one can mean a painful activity for some of the children.
