Seeing as it would have been his 50th birthday in a few weeks and the 4th anniversary of his passing on monday (28th Oct), I thought it'd be appropriate to record a tribute mix for our long lost soul brother Dan J. The Sheffield legend who taught me how to mix without ever intentionally doing so. The dad that I never had. The man that imparted so much wisdom on a very naive student. Always smiling, dancing, joking and encouraging. Picked out a load of tunes that remind me of Dan and that reflect a certain time in my life, living with both him and Mike at Huddle HQ, watching them do radio shows, smoking massive spliffs, Ronnie & Reggie, photographing all the best gigs in Sheff, working at the Harley and getting absolutely battered with Dan whilst we were both "working". An absolutely mega period in my life with so many memories linked to him and his amazing music. Could've mixed for hours, missed so many tunes... maybe I'll do another one sometime! Thanks for all the life lessons and fucking funny times brother. Hope you're digging the mix with a bottle of of vino up above! Rest in tonk Widge, love Yoof xxx
