15) When Transformation Gets Co-Opted: On Bodies, Beauty, and the Messy Truth
⚠️ Trigger Warning: This episode includes personal stories about disordered eating, body image struggles, and diet culture. Please take care while listening. In this raw, real, and slightly ranty episode, I’m diving into something that’s been stirring in me for a long time...and honestly, I’ve just had enough. Let’s talk about how “transformation” is being co-opted in the coaching and wellness space, especially when it’s reduced to weight loss or before-and-after photos. I share my personal journey with disordered eating, including childhood body shame, bulimia, martial arts culture, yoga obsession, and even the ways “wellness” became a new costume for control. I get into how all of that still shows up (quietly, insidiously) even now, in my 40s, living in Bali, and running a coaching business that’s supposed to be about embodiment. We talk about: Why thinness isn’t proof of healing How transformation often looks invisible, messy, or nonlinear What red flags to watch for when control creeps back in And how to come home to your body, again and again If you’ve ever felt like your body had to look a certain way to be taken seriously - or sell your work - or feel “aligned,” this one’s for you.Learn more about Accessible Yoga at www.accessibleyogaschool.comLearn more about working with me at www.JennNoble.com
