Episode 1: Opening hands, predator powers, and end of round goal stats

Welcome to Full Tuck: The Wingspan Podcast! In Episode 1 the boys kick things off with their opening hand review, take flight with predator powers, and Adam debuts his brand-new stats segment.

Starting hand bird summary, episode 1:

Opening hand

  • Gould's Finch. Game end: play a bird, pay its normal food and egg cost.
  • Cedar Waxwing. When activated: Tuck a card from your hand behind this bird. If you do, gain a cherry from the supply.
  • Red Winged Blackbird. When activated: tuck a card from your hand behind this bird. If you do, lay 1 egg on this bird.
  • Canada Goose. When activated: Discard 1 wheat to tuck 2 cards from the deck behind this bird.
  • Baya Weaver. When activated: Tuck up to 3 cards from your hand behind this bird. If you tuck at least one card, lay 1 egg on this bird.


Bonus cards:

  • Breeding Manager: birds with at least 4 eggs laid on them (1 point per bird)
  • Prairie Manager: birds that can only live in the grasslands (2-3 birds = 3 points, 4+ birds = 8 points)


In the tray:

  • Common Goldeneye. Round end: Lay 1 egg on this bird for each other bird with a cavity nest that you have.
  • Eurasian Tree Sparrow. Once between turns: when another player takes the "gain food" action, gain 1 wheat from the birdfeeder at the end of their turn.
  • Osprey. When activated: all players gain 1 fish from the supply.



Episode 2 lookahead starting hand

Opening hand:

  • Common Sandpiper. When activated: draw 1 card for each bird in your wetlands with an egg on it. Keep 1 and discard the rest.
  • Sri Lanka Blue-Magpie. Round end: you may cache 1 food from your supply on each of your other birds.
  • Greylag Goose. Round end: this bird counts double towards the end-of-round goal, if it qualifies.
  • Desert Finch. When played: lay 1 egg on this bird for each other bird in your grasslands.
  • Wrybill. When played: look through all discarded bonus cards. Keep 1 of them.


Bonus cards:

  • Grassland ranger: consecutive birds in the grasslands with ascending or descending scores. 3 birds = 3 points, 4 birds = 5 points, 5 birds = 8 points.
  • Forester: birds that can only live in the forest. 3-4 birds = 4 points, 5 birds = 8 points


In the tray:

  • Green Heron. When activated: trade one food for any other food from the supply.
  • Desert Wheatear. When activated: for each bird in your grasslands with an egg on it, roll any one dice. Choose 1 type of food that you rolled and gain 1 of that food from the supply.
  • Yellow Bellied Sapsucker. When activated: gain 1 worm from the supply.
