As much as I love art and culture, fashion and beauty, I’m also a fan of politics and politicians whose platforms center and elevate the human condition. Today's @fullbodyfrequency guest has gone from Certified Nursing Assistant to the Illinois General Assembly representing the 9th district. And while folks say that all politics are local, Lakesia Collins has made a national impact with her work on behalf of workers, including the Fight for $15, the movement that advocates for the $15 dollar per hour minimum wage. Between June and July of this year, she sponsored over 20 bills in the IL General Assembly while remaining on the frontline, fighting for the rights of workers and children. In addition to her work, Illinois State Senator Lakesia Collins's story of pushing past trauma and moving forward to the plus-size life she now lives is absolutely inspirational! The Olympic Wrap-Up: Tokyo 2020: LIVE on IGTV
It’s a wrap! We came, we saw, we conquered Tokyo 2020! Laura Rice of @fullbodyfrequency and Olympic Historian and sports documentarian, @idy_uyoe, wrap up the Olympic Games with a deep dive into the 32nd Olympiad - the highlights, low lights, the hits, and misses. To be clear, no other city, no other nation, was capable of pulling off these games with the same level of discipline, hospitality, and aplomb that Tokyo, Japan, displayed. Thank you, Tokyo! We: •rated the Games, •discussed the significant presence of Black athletes from Africa and its diaspora - Asia, Europe, North America, and South America, •named breakout stars •clarified why winning a Bronze medal is NOT a loss, •discussed the seismic shift from media-controlled to athlete-controlled narratives; and, •talked about potential doping amongst gold medalists and so much more! Gold medal Olympian Edwin Moses even made a surprise appearance in the audience! We were honored by his presence! Idy also previewed the Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028 Games. And, of course, there were be lots of “Little Known Olympic Facts.” Thanks for tuning in; check out the story links below, and don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share Full Body Frequency. watch via: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTHC... listen via: iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...
