As much as I love art and culture, fashion and beauty, I’m also a fan of politics and politicians whose platforms center and elevate the human condition. Today's @fullbodyfrequency guest has gone from Certified Nursing Assistant to the Illinois General Assembly representing the 9th district. And while folks say that all politics are local, Lakesia Collins has made a national impact with her work on behalf of workers, including the Fight for $15, the movement that advocates for the $15 dollar per hour minimum wage. Between June and July of this year, she sponsored over 20 bills in the IL General Assembly while remaining on the frontline, fighting for the rights of workers and children. In addition to her work, Illinois State Senator Lakesia Collins's story of pushing past trauma and moving forward to the plus-size life she now lives is absolutely inspirational!
