Despite the wealth of talent in our theater community and productions, we often struggle to capture and share the inspirational stories and experiences of our designers, actors, directors, writers, and producers. This is due to the fact that we are often too busy working on productions to take the time to document the passion and creativity that drives our work. As a result, the talent in our community is underrepresented. To address this problem, we need to create a platform beyond just our stage for our artists and designers to share their stories, experiences, and motivations with a wider

From the Stage with Odalys Nanin

In this YouTube interview, we have the pleasure of speaking with Odalys Nanin, the writer, director, and producing artistic director/founder of Macha Theatre/Films. She is the creator of the highly acclaimed play, Garbo's Cuban Lover, a suspenseful dramedy exploring the glamorous and secretive lives of Hollywood's Golden Age, specifically Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich, and their love affair with the enigmatic Mercedes de Acosta.

Nanin's creative interpretation of the Garbo-De Acosta relationship has earned her a reputation for writing, directing, and producing theater in Los Angeles. In this re-imagined version, she has added images, a clip from her short film, and more music and dancing. She dedicated this play to her parents Antonio and Mireya, as well as to all those who, like herself and Mercedes, still believe in soulmates.
