Welcome to FractureLine: the official weekly news feed from the Chest Wall Injury Society, where we will listen to all the bottom-line CWIS updates, shout-outs, fun facts, and weekly banter!
This week's episode welcomes Drs. Everett Eriksson, MD (Department of Surgery, Medical University of South Carolina) [CWIS Stalwart] & Dr. Matthew Sherrier, MD (Department of Orthopaedics and Physical Medicine, Medical University of South Carolina). These two have been working on an interesting injury line as a result of rib fractures: the possibility that denervation of abdominal musculature after intercostal nerve injury can lead to atrophy or pain and perhaps even hernia occurrence. This work has been published in their article "Intercostal nerve electrodiagnostic testing in rib fractures," in Muscle & Nerve. As always, SarahAnn, Dr. White, Dr. Bauman & Dr. Kryskow joined us.
This episode continues the trend of research-based topics and may even spark some ideas for you!
