One of the classics of Indian literature that was made into an internationally acclaimed movie of the same name by Satyajit Ray. Listen to the tale of two siblings, Apu and Durga, in the tiny village of Nischindpur in Bengal in the early 1900s.

My book recommendation for the week is also about a 11 year old child's journey to her grandparents' home in a village in Kerala.
