Story Transcript:

Tr: Kemal, İstanbul'un kalabalık bir lisesinde ders sonrası kantinde oturuyordu.
En: Kemal was sitting in the canteen after classes in a crowded high school in Istanbul.

Tr: Kapının önünde ağaçların yaprakları sarı, turuncu renklere bürünmüştü.
En: The leaves on the trees outside the door had turned yellow and orange.

Tr: Cumhuriyet Bayramı süslemeleri hâlâ koridorlarda asılıydı.
En: Republic Day decorations were still hanging in the corridors.

Tr: İçerideki heyecan, sonbaharın hafif serinliğiyle birleşmişti.
En: The excitement inside had blended with the mild chill of autumn.

En: Kemal appeared to be focused on his classes, but he was preoccupied with other thoughts.

Tr: Ailesinin durumu ve artan borçlar onu endişelendiriyordu.
En: He was worried about his family's situation and the increasing debts.

En: He was responsible not only for succeeding in school but also for contributing financially by working.

Tr: Ama bu çabası, derslerinden geri kalmasına neden oluyordu.
En: However, this effort was causing him to lag behind in his studies.

Tr: Aylin, Kemal'in en yakın arkadaşlarından biriydi.
En: Aylin was one of Kemal's closest friends.

Tr: Ona her daim destek vermeye çalışıyordu.
En: She always tried to support him.

Tr: "Kemal, bugün birlikte çalışalım mı?"
En: "Do you want to study together today?"

Tr: diye sordu.
En: she asked.

Tr: Ama Kemal yüzünü yere eğdi, nazikçe hayır dedi.
En: But Kemal lowered his face to the ground and politely said no.

Tr: Yardım istemek onun için zordu.
En: Asking for help was difficult for him.

En: But this time, he had something important he needed to achieve: obtaining a scholarship.

Tr: Aylin, Kemal'in durgun hallerini fark etti.

En: "It's normal to ask for help," she said sincerely.

Tr: Kemal, Aylin'in sözleriyle cesaret buldu.
En: With Aylin's words, Kemal found the courage.

Tr: Yardım almayı kabul etti ve birlikte çalışmaya başladılar.
En: He accepted the help and they began studying together.

Tr: Sıklıkla, okul çıkışı iş yerine yetişiyordu.
En: Often, he would rush to his workplace after school.

En: But this time, he made a different decision.

En: He reduced his working hours so he could focus more on his studies.

Tr: Bu karar, ailesi için zorluk yaratabilir diye korkuyordu fakat başka yolu yoktu.
En: He feared this decision might cause difficulties for his family, but he had no other choice.

Tr: Bir gün, Zeynep abisinin yanına geldi.
En: One day, Zeynep came to her brother's side.

Tr: "Abi, çok çalışıyorsun," dedi gülümseyerek.
En: "Brother, you are working too hard," she said with a smile.

Tr: Zeynep abisini hep gurur kaynağı olarak görüyordu.
En: Zeynep always saw her brother as a source of pride.
