Ru: В осеннюю хмурую погоду над головами сотрудников висел дух Хэллоуина.
En: In the gloomy autumn weather, the spirit of Halloween hung over the employees' heads.

Ru: В офисе было как обычно: люди погружены в работу перед компьютерами.
En: The office was as usual: people immersed in work in front of computers.

Ru: Но сегодня был особенный день.
En: But today was a special day.

Ru: Управление объявило конкурс на лучшее оформление рабочего места и лучший костюм к празднику.
En: The management announced a contest for the best workplace decoration and the best costume for the holiday.

Ru: Иван, скромный программист, немного напрягался.
En: Ivan, a modest programmer, was a bit anxious.

Ru: Праздники он не особенно жаловал, а уж публичные мероприятия и подавно.
En: He wasn't particularly fond of holidays, especially public events.

Ru: Со стороны может показаться, что его интересуют лишь компьютеры и задачи, но в глубине души он почувствовал тягу к конкурсу.
En: It might seem from the outside that he's only interested in computers and tasks, but deep down he felt a pull towards the contest.
