In 1982 Space Camp opened in Huntsville Alabama. It was a place that promoted science, math, and the U.S. Space program to young students. The 1980's also saw the launch of the Space Shuttle program. Space exploration was cool to the kids in America.
In 1986 Hollywood wanted to capitalize on this space craze among young kids and released the family friendly adventure film "SpaceCamp". Unfortunately the movie was lost and a financial flop because the country was still in shock and mourning the astronauts lost in the Shuttle Challenger disaster that took place months before "SpaceCamp" hit theaters.
Join Tina and RD as they discuss "SpaceCamp" and wonder if the film was doomed because of the Challenger tragedy, or if it was not a very good movie to begin with.
