The categories of shepherding and serving // Trusted Hands

As we "equip the saints for the work of ministry" (Ephesians 4:12 ESV), how do we identify the right place and way for them to serve?

Everyone has a part to play in church life: men, women, young, old, slaves, masters (Titus 2:1-10).

As we seek to identify places for them to serve and to grow, it is helpful to see two categories of church life: shepherding and serving.

You can watch a video of this talk and get more resources for church leaders on the FIEC website: https://fiec.org.uk/resources/the-categories-of-shepherding-and-serving.

This is the third talk of five from Trusted Hands: the post-conference event that followed the 2024 Leaders' Conference. It included five sessions with Brian Croft to help explore how to train and deploy volunteer leaders across the church.

About FIEC: We are a fellowship of Independent churches with members of the family across England, Scotland and Wales. Our mission is to see those Independent churches working together with a big vision: to reach Britain for Christ. Being part of FIEC links you to a growing number of Independent evangelical churches and there are now more than 50,000 people who are part of churches affiliated to FIEC.
