Facing Our Limitations: Fear of the Subconscious
Based on the book Journey to Ixtlan: The Lessons of Don Juan by Carlos Castaneda
Lucid Dreaming - Gateway to the inner Self by Robert Waggoner
Many people, including highly trained psychologists, have what amounts to a basic fear of the subconscious. They simply do not believe that the waking self should interact with unconscious and subconscious elements. Society has a “psychophobia”, a fear of the deeper contents of our minds. Often, behind this fear of lucid dreaming, lies a concern about messing up subconscious processes. But no one can ever say exactly what these processes are because we don’t understand the subconscious fully enough. This is where lucid dreaming can finally become a tool with which to explore it.
We will never develop a truer conceptualisation of the subconscious and unconscious if we only dance around it or consider it from the safe distance of the waking world.
Today we’ll let go of the fear and interact with the dream, or the realm of the subconscious or unconscious.
Welcome to the Dream realm.
Sweet dreams.
