The Fenced In podcast is, in essence sports and fencing framed in a light, conversational piece. The show is hosted by two GB international fencers, Ben Peggs and Christopher Mollard, who have the added dynamic of being coach and student. They share their experience as well as their tried and tested ideas of how to continue to improve in this technical sport that we all remain so passionate about, through lockdown and beyond.
With nearly 30 years of knowledge between them, Chris and Ben discuss how to train and how to improve both their mental and physical fitness in such a way as to maximise their full potential. The duo explore the newest and continually evolving side of our sport that is ‘quarantine training’, sharing their experience from their own homes and exploring the many ways that fencers and athletes in other sports can make the most of training during this global pandemic. Discussing anything and everything - from mindfulness in the living room to point control in the garden, the show also features a much in demand ‘ask us anything’ segment where listeners have the opportunity to ask the questions they want the answers to.
If you’re wanting to make the most out of quarantine then let’s be Fenced In together.

The only athlete to have won a medal at both the Olympic and Paralympic Games - Pàl Szekeres
“In Hungary, if you want to be an icon you have to be Olympic champion"
As he is the only athlete ever to have won a medal at both the Olympic and the Paralympic Games, it’s safe to say that’s exactly what Pal has achieved in a fencing career spanning 28 years, with a journey like no other!
Ben and Chris discover what Pal went through from his first Olympics in Los Angeles 1984 to his last Paralympics London 2012.
Describing his utter determination which resulted in his remarkable Paralympic title just 7 months after a life changing injury, he explains his re-educate of each and every aspect of life.
Pál says that fencing was his saving grace, with a career which he views as a complete one. Now the president of IWAS Wheelchair Fencing and having held public office in Hungary for many years, promoting accessibility in all forms and changing the landscape of wheelchair fencing has been his goal.
Pál views wheelchair fencing as the fourth discipline and it’s easy to understand why. He talks us through his experience transitioning from able bodied Olympic medalist to wheelchair Paralympic champion and what both can learn from the other!
