Feminism, Fascism, and the Future
Laurie Essig
24 episodes
This podcast was born out of fear of the future and out of a deep and abiding belief that feminism can save us. We are hoping these episodes will motivate you to organize and fight back as feminists for all marginalized bodies, which is to say, the bodies targeted by fascism. By connecting the dots and seeing how this fascism operates by making us the enemy, but also by trying to get us to fight one another, we hope to change the future. One feminist episode at a time. Special thanks to the team, Laurie Essig, Alison Segar, Harper Nichols, El Fahey, Daisy Kulina, Ruthie Brown, and many more!

7. How They Come for the Professors (Part 2)

Tenure is supposed to protect professors to teach what they know. That stops political idealogues like Donald Trump or Joseph McCarthy from controlling knowledge. Unfortunately, it's no protection for professors in this political moment as Moira Finkelstein found out when she lost her tenured job as an anthropologist at Muhlenberg College over an Instagram Story that was critical of Zionism. Zionism is an ideology, not a religion, and many Jews, including Dr. Finkelstein, are critical of it. But that didn’t stop her from being labeled antisemitic.
