A Perilous Hot Air Balloon Ride - Richard Branson

About The Episode

Our guest today on Fear Itself is one of the world's most iconic entrepreneurs, Richard Branson. Richard's career, mindset and outlook on life is typified by fearlessness. In this episode, we find out how a 'screw it, let's do it' attitude helped him fight fear to launch Virgin Atlantic, he shares a gutrenching account of one his many death defying exploits, and we discover what Richard truly fears.

*Just as a note however, this episode was recorded earlier in the year before Richard's space flight.

Sir Richard Branson is an English business magnate, adventurer, investor, author, and commercial astronaut. In 1970, he set up a mail-order record business, Virgin Records—later known as Virgin Megastores—in 1972. Branson's Virgin brand would grow rapidly and he would expand his businesses to include Virgin Atlantic airline, Virgin Records music label, and Virgin Television. On 11 July 2021, Branson flew above the U.S. definition of space, reaching an altitude of 53 as part of a test flight for his company, Virgin Galactic.
