My Guest
My guest today is Dr. Tovah Klein. Tovah is Director of the Barnard College Center for Toddler Development, Psychology Professor at Barnard College and author of two national bestsellers: Raising Resilience: How to Help Our Children Thrive in Times of Uncertainty and How Toddlers Thrive.
After growing up in Ohio, Tovah graduated from the University of Michigan and holds a doctorate in clinical psychology from Duke University.
Tovah is a proud mother of 3 children who she accompanied along with her extensive work into their life. She worked for Over three decades with families and children . Her focus on families stems from her interest in the influences parents have on children's well-being as well as their joy and curiosity. Her research explores parenting influences and challenges, including work and family; play and emotional development and parents' affective influences on children's learning. Additionally Tovah worked with the effects of trauma in children, and conducted a study of parenting during the covid19 pandemic.
Though Tovah has been called the ‘toddler whisperer’ by Good Morning America, she works across all ages of children and teens. Tovah consults worldwide to media and children’s programs including National Geographic Kids, Apple TV+ and HBO Kids. Additionally Tovah is an advisor to Children's Museum of Manhattan, Hunts Point Alliance for Children, Room to Grow and Ubuntu Pathways S. Africa.
