Based in New York with a background in fashion studies, cultural anthropology and art history, Kimberly is the founder and Director of Artis Solomon, which offers a consultancy on fashion history and cultural awareness, and powers The Fashion and Race Database, a one of a kind learning platform. Most recently, she co-produced and hosted the podcast, "The Invisible Seam," in partnership with Tommy Hilfiger, highlighting the underrepresented contributions Black culture to fashion.
Kimberly formerly held the position of Assistant Professor of Fashion Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University and lecturer at Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institute. Kim is best known for introducing the course, Fashion and Race, at Parsons, and for working as an education consultant for Gucci in Europe and Asia to support their efforts on design and cultural awareness.

In this episode, our guest is Scarlett Yang. Scarlett is a London-based Innovation Designer and Founder of Studio Scarlett Yang. The studio pioneers in sustainable design, ecological and virtual materials, and collaborates with leading brands and museums around the world, while holding its commitment to bolstering the future of technology.
Scarlett has a hybrid background in: couture from Central Saint Martins, design research from Royal College of Art and science engineering from Imperial College London. Her multidisciplinary work has been exhibited internationally, at Christie’s, Rolls Royce’s Muse Art Programme, the V&A Museum, London Design Biennale, Dutch Design Week and more.
The designer has been recognised for her contribution to advancing sustainable design technologies and has won such as the LVMH Green Trail award.
