Why don't we speak up more as minority women?
As a Chinese immigrant growing up in Toronto, I could barely speak English, much less speak up in class. I was also taught to be "quiet and respectable and to not speak up unless asked." But that certainly didn't serve me well at work, especially in the consulting world and now as a content creator and entrepreneur.
One of the content creators that I've had the pleasure of following is Foram Brown. She is Indian born and a founder of a business responsible for executive recruitment for women in Engineering.
