Remarkably Resilient Together with Kathleen Harnish McKune & Tim DeWeese

Our guests joining us today in our very first episode are from “Remarkably Resilient Together” – an organization that empowers individuals of all ages to strengthen their resilience by providing techniques for emotional regulation and self-care practices. We’ll also hear about their lived experience – informed by the neuroscience of trauma.

We’ll meet Kathleen Harnish McKune one of three sisters who grew up in a childhood home with multi-generational incest, abuse, and neglect. The Harnish sisters broke that cycle - the neuroscience of trauma helped them see HOW they did that. Their 2019 book, "Remarkably Resilient: Community Matters", shares their journeys.

This lived experience is complemented by, Tim DeWeese, Director, Johnson County Mental Health Center, Kansas - one of the non-profit partners working with the Harnish sisters in this community campaign to "Empower individuals with the practices of emotional regulation and self-care". This matters because we are all more resilient humans when we are emotionally regulated with full resilience cups.

This information is presented by the National Family Support Technical Assistance Center (NFSTAC) and was funded by SAMHSA of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Grant# 1H79F6000160.
