The team made their way to the Kings Park Rugby Stadium with great excitement. I looked around in awe. Hundreds of farmers and their workers were arriving at the grounds. They came from every corner of KwaZulu-Natal; a tremendous spirit of optimism filled the grounds as they set up their caravans and tents.
"Lord," | rejoiced, "You have been so good to us. This gathering is bringing hope to people who are in a hopeless state. Workers and employers are uniting in their quest for peace."
"Would you be offended if I prayed for you and asked the Lord to heal your back?"His expression was a picture. His face went white, and his eyes widened. After a few seconds, he stuttered, "Ja... yes, please."
"Where do You want us to go next, Lord?" I asked Him one morning during my quiet time in the office. I was very excited when the Lord indicated it would be Ulundi.
As farmers, we know how devastating drought can be, but we have also learnt to trust the One who controls all the elements. Time and again, the Lord has supernaturally given us faith to trust Him…
Invitations to hold gospel campaigns came in thick and fast. Since our first Ladysmith campaign, we have held at least twenty major ones, and God has moved in awesome and miraculous ways.
Here are only some of the many highlights!
"Dad, I really love you," I said. I had never been able to say that before. We were raised with the 'stiff upper lip’ and 'cowboys don't cry' attitude. I put my arms around him and gave him a hug.
"Dad, do you know you are dying?" I asked him. "I do," he replied.
A lump came into my throat as I looked at my precious family. They all love the Lord with all their heart; we are a close-knit family. It was good to be home.
It wasn’t easy to leave my family. We are very close, and Scotland seemed so far away. As Lindi and I drove out of the gate, I remembered the Lord’s challenge on the road to Ladysmith - That third question had never left me…
"What is Your plan, Lord? I cried out to Him. I was sure He did not want us to sell the farm. It was to become the base for the ministry and provide financial support for the campaigns.”
"If You give us the best crop we have ever had, in the worst season we've ever experienced, then I will know that You have called me to preach the gospel full time...
Auntie Angus, where are you going?" My nephew Alistair was four years old, and ever since he could talk, he had called me "Auntie Angus." It was our joke…
"Lord, why do You want me to do this?" It seemed to me that there was a church on every corner in Ladysmith, and not one of their ministers wanted me to come. Still, I had promised the Lord…
“I wanted to be used by God,” I said. “I wanted to trust Him at all costs and see His power manifested.” There was a pause on the other end of the line...
Every year we burn firebreaks on the farm. After the first frosts the grass becomes tinder-dry, and it's easy for fire to break out, so once the rains have stopped…
! grabbed an axe and went outside. A group of young men were climbing out of the truck, so I held up my weapon as I went towards them. I would get them before they got me…
“To hell with El Niño!” What have I just done, Angus thought to himself after making such a statement at Kings Park stadium in Durban, South Africa, in 1997…
