Faith Like a Child
Morgan Satre & Maegen Clark
12 episodes
Jesus encourages us to have faith like a child, but let's face it -- kids ask questions that can be hard for parents and caregivers to answer, especially when it comes to questions of Christian faith. Where were we before we were born? Who is Jesus? When Noah and his family got off the ark, were there dead bodies everywhere? Well, if a child can ask the hard questions about the Bible, that means we can, too. Join hosts Morgan Feddes Satre and Maegen Clark as we discuss some of the hardest questions in Christianity and try to figure out how to respond to the ones who always seem to ask us these questions: our kids. On a brief hiatus for maternity leave as of December 2023; episodes should resume in spring 2024 and will come out once a month. Subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.

Why Did Jesus Have to Suffer and Die?

Good Friday is coming up, which means there’s a special emphasis on Jesus torturous suffering and death on the cross. That means it’s prime time for questions from kids on really tough topics around death, suffering, and the nature of God’s plan of redemption. Why did Jesus let it happen, why did the crucifixion need to happen, and how does atonement work, exactly? And how do we know when our kids are ready to really talk about these tough things? Buckle up.

Resources mentioned in the episode:

  • “God’s Story: Easter” (Crossroads Kids Club)
  • “New Testament Summary: A Complete Animated Overview” (BibleProject)
  • "Messiah” (BibleProject)
  • “The Crucifixion of Jesus: Luke 19-23” (BibleProject)
  • Scot McKnight, A Community Called Atonement
