Judaism Is About Love: Recovering the Heart of Jewish Life by Shai Held
Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/705169 to listen full audiobooks. Title: Judaism Is About Love: Recovering the Heart of Jewish Life Author: Shai Held Narrator: Josh Bloomberg Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 15 hours 30 minutes Release date: March 26, 2024 Genres: World Religions Publisher's Summary: A profound, startling new understanding of Jewish life, illuminating the forgotten heart of Jewish theology and practice: love. A dramatic misinterpretation of the Jewish tradition has shaped the history of the West: Christianity is the religion of love, and Judaism the religion of law. In the face of centuries of this widespread misrepresentation, Rabbi Shai Held—one of the most important Jewish thinkers in America today—recovers the heart of the Jewish tradition, offering the radical and moving argument that love belongs as much to Judaism as it does to Christianity. Blending intellectual rigor, a respect for tradition and the practices of a living Judaism, and a commitment to the full equality of all people, Held seeks to reclaim Judaism as it authentically is. He shows that love is foundational and constitutive of true Jewish faith, animating the singular Jewish perspective on injustice and protest, grace, family life, responsibilities to our neighbors and even our enemies, and chosenness. Ambitious and revelatory, Judaism Is About Love illuminates the true essence of Judaism—an act of restoration from within. A Macmillan Audio production from Farrar, Straus and Giroux.

The Ritual of Transcendental Magic by Eliphas Levi
Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/709446 to listen full audiobooks. Title: The Ritual of Transcendental Magic Author: Eliphas Levi Narrator: Henry Schrader Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 7 hours 24 minutes Release date: August 22, 2023 Genres: World Religions Publisher's Summary: The Ritual of Transcendental Magic was published in 1856. It discusses the actual materials, processes, and settings for conducting ritual magic. The practitioner must purify himself through a temperate diet, regular sleep, and thorough attention to cleaning and hygiene. A complete description of tools like a magical lamp, rod, sword, and dagger follows, leaving the magician well equipped to perform ceremonies and rituals. Levi also added the Tarot to the tools of the magician, which was a new development in the occultism of the time. This work explores the magician’s foundations for his spiritual beliefs, as well as his idea that an elite class of priests would be necessary to lead the people into both social and magical order. He writes, “Occult philosophy seems to have been the nurse and godmother of all intellectual forces, the key of all divine obscurities, and the absolute mistress of society, in those ages when it was exclusively reserved for the education of priests and of kings...Magic is the traditional science of the secrets of Nature which comes to us from the Magi.” Although Levi didn’t enjoy much notoriety during his life, his works eventually became highly influential among other occultists, and he is now considered one of the fathers of modern mysticism. Famous occultist Aleister Crowley even claimed to be Levi himself in one of his past lives, as he was born less than six months after Levi’s death in 1875.

This explanation of the Book of Deuteronomy, the fifth book of the Bible, will demonstrate how it remains profoundly relevant—both to the great issues of our day and to each individual life. Do you doubt the existence of God because you think believing in God is irrational? This book will cause you to reexamine your doubts. The title of this commentary is The Rational Bible because its approach is entirely reason-based. The reader is never asked to accept anything on faith alone. In Dennis Prager’s words, “If something I write is not rational, I have not done my job.” The Rational Bible is the fruit of Prager’s forty years of teaching to people of every faith and no faith at all. On virtually every page, you will discover how the text relates to the contemporary world in general and to you on a personal level. His goal: to change your mind—and, as a result, to change your life.

Ambedkar and Buddhism, Annihilation of Caste by B. R. Ambedkar, Urgyen Sangharakshita
Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/730998 to listen full audiobooks. Title: Ambedkar and Buddhism, Annihilation of Caste Author: B. R. Ambedkar, Urgyen Sangharakshita Narrator: Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Sagar Arya Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 11 hours 23 minutes Release date: August 17, 2016 Genres: World Religions Publisher's Summary: Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was one of the most remarkable figures in the 20th century. Born an Untouchable - the lowest element of Indian society deemed to be outside the caste system, and literally 'untouchable' - he rose from abject village poverty to become the architect of the new Constitution of India following its independence from Britain in 1947. A combination of exceptional talent, hard work and determination, vision and luck took him to Harvard and the LSE, and then back to his home country. Always, his progress was impelled by the concern for his 'Untouchable' community and it was this that underpinned work in law, politics and economics as he rapidly became a national figure who could not be ignored. He opposed Gandhi's patronising attitude towards the Untouchable community, and the violent crimes and prejudice inflicted upon it by the caste Hindu society. In the 1930s, Ambedkar proclaimed that though he was born a Hindu, he would not die a Hindu; and on 14th October 1956, with 400,000 followers, he converted to Buddhism in a mass meeting in Nagpur. This biography is by the British-born Buddhist monk Urgyen Sangharakshita who knew Ambedkar and spent decades working with the Dalit community as the Untouchables became known. It is a clear but affectionate look at a singular life which changed one of the largest nations on earth, and charts Ambedkar's gradual move towards Buddhism which he saw as the best path for his people. Bonus material: in addition to the biography is Annihilation of Caste, Ambedkar's key speech - never delivered but published in 1936 - in which he set out the reality of 'Untouchable' life and the need for change, but it is at the same time an international clarion call for human rights. It is all the more poignant as, while Untouchability is outlawed in India now thanks to Dr Ambedkar's legislation, there are 200 million Dalits in India, and violence and prejudice is still commonplace.

Aspects of the Bodhisattva Ideal: The Original Lecture Series by Urgyen Sangharakshita

Title: Aspects of the Bodhisattva Ideal: The Original Lecture Series Author: Urgyen Sangharakshita Narrator: Urgyen Sangharakshita Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 9 hours 58 minutes Release date: February 10, 2016 Genres: World Religions Publisher's Summary: The Bodhisattva - one who is becoming awake or enlightened - is one of the great inspiring figures in Buddhism. The title can refer to a mythical being with qualities to which we aspire, such as Avalokitesvara, the Bodhisattva of compassion; or an ordinary person on the quest for enlightenment for the benefit of all living beings. It is a profound ideal for life. In this important lecture series, Urgyen Sangharakshita, one of the most important leading Western Buddhist teachers, sets out the path of the aspiring Bodhisattva living in the 21st century. How should we act? What principles should we follow? How can we balance the urge to benefit others yet follow a true spiritual path ourselves? This clear, challenging and stimulating series of eight talks is one of the many groundbreaking lectures given in the 1960s, when Sangharakshita, having returned to the UK after 25 years in India, was setting up a new Western Buddhist movement, now called the Triratna Buddhist Community. Aspects of the Bodhisattva ideal contain such specific talks as the Bodhisattva vow, altruism and individualism in spiritual life and masculinity and femininity in spiritual life. These talks have been remastered.
