Although Eurovision is a song contest, we often see some entries focusing more on entertainment and a good show than on good vocals and lyrics. That has led to the term "joke entries" - something that can be a big contrast to what we consider "jury songs". The last few years have shown a difference in the way the public and the jury is voting in ESC - where the public often tend to be bigger fans of the funny entries. But are the funny entries blurring the image of Eurovision being a serious music competition? Or are the entertaining songs on the other hand exactly what we need in times of division and political battles? And is it even possible to make a distinction between "joke entries" and "serious entries"?
