Discover Haiti in my new episode!
In this episode, we will explore the history, culture and incredible resilience of Haiti. Learn about how this country's history is profoundly interconnected with that of the Dominican Republic, its neighbor on the island.
Furthermore, the Haitian Revolution was not only the largest successful slave revolt in history, but it also had a crucial impact on the rest of Latin America, influencing leaders like Simón Bolívar (who played a role in the independence movements of South America). (In fact, Bolívar received help from Haiti at a key moment!)
But Haiti isn't just about history. It's a country with beautiful white-sand beaches, rhythms and dances, and lots of delicious food!

🎙️ Episode 6: My AmeriCorps Experience
📍 In 2011, I volunteered for an AmeriCorps program in East Boston, promoting healthy lifestyles in the community. My Spanish communication skills got so much better from using it on the job daily! Through after-school programs 🏀 with children, swimming lessons, and soccer coaching ⚽, I learned valuable lessons about community service and the positive impact it can have on many people's lives.
📢 Important note:
As an AmeriCorps alumna (with no current affiliation), I deeply support this program and the cause of community service. With recent cuts affecting many volunteers and communities, it's more important than ever to support initiatives like AmeriCorps. If you also value community work, I invite you to get involved and support programs that truly make a difference. 🌟
