Ensuring children's agency in school

In this episode we are going talk about how to ensure children’s agency in school. Agency means that individuals, in particular children, may choose their way of acting, thus contributing to the construction of their social and cultural context.

Luca László, education consultant, and Petra van Haren, director of ESHA, share their thoughts on how to determine the ‘right amount of risk’ in facilitating agency. And how to encourage and enable teachers and staff within your school to give children the opportunity to express their opinions and practice their decision-making rights.

For more information about ESHA, visit https://www.esha.org/

Fran Palokaj speaks with school leaders across Europa about a variety of topics based on ESHA’s HEADstart quality cards developed by Loes van Wessum, Rieneke Pruis and others. These quality cards function as practical tools that you can use to tackle everyday challenges within your organization. Visit https://www.esha.org/headstart to download the HEADstart cards.
