We spoke with architect and urban planner Maria de Irantzu Serra Lasa, specialized in Disaster Risk Management, Recovery, and Housing, Land, and Property (HLP) in crisis contexts.
In this interview, she shares her perspective on disaster recovery in light of today’s challenges: climate change, migration, and housing access disputes. She also provides insight into her ongoing collaboration with Howard University, where she’s working on a new program designed to address the growing interest among the new generation of architecture students in anticipating and actively engaging in disaster recovery efforts.
