He is best known for his research in the field of planetary science, particularly the study of Venus and Mars, and for his popular science books and television series, such as "Cosmos: A Personal Voyage." He was a strong advocate for scientific skepticism, and he aimed to educate the public about the importance of science, critical thinking, and rationality. He was also a vocal advocate for the search for extraterrestrial intelligence and the exploration of outer space. Sagan's book "Cosmos" was a bestseller and the accompanying television series, which he hosted, was watched by over 500 million people in over 60 countries. The show covered a wide range of topics in science, from the origins of the universe to the history of life on Earth. The series was widely praised for its ability to make complex scientific concepts accessible to a general audience.
