428 - Gordon Gerrard

Gordon Gerrard is a conductor and the executive director of City Opera Vancouver. COV is presenting the Canadian Premiere of Sophia's Forest, by Librettist Hannah Moscovitch and composer Lembit Beecher.

Drawing inspiration from the lived experiences of many who have endured war, loss, and displacement, Sophia's Forest is a modern, contemporary piece on feeling overwhelmed by global conflict and connects us to individual stories.

Gerrard talks about COV's role is staging the show, how they are trying to change the perception of Opera, and why it is a good medium for Contemporary ideas.

The show runs May 29-June 1st at Studio T at SFU's Goldcorp Centre for the Arts.
