Enculturation Podcast aims to spark curiosity through conversation and insights from different cultures around the world in the most fun, authentic and engaging manner. We're meant to be together, not apart. My name is Vinh Nguyen and I'm a technical creative. I've had over 15 years of diverse experiences in the House Dance/Music culture. I've also been gifted with many stories and perspectives from an indigenous anthropologist polyglot. Both these experiences made me believe that people can come together beautifully and coexist. This is my mission to share these experiences.

Breaking Barriers, A Mayan Story: EP #17

A conversation with Dionicio Virvez on his story of breaking past barriers, stereotypes and discrimination as he forged his own path into the Hollywood film and entertainment industry. We talked how martial arts was foundational in his journey, how he overcame these barriers through faith and a bit of luck, getting his first paid job to finally transitioning into bigger productions and still maintain a successful career as an Indigenous Mayan actor. Dionicio Virvez is an American actor and Producer of Guatemalan Native-American descent. He is known for playing various Native American roles. He starred in the National Geographic television series Is it Real? and had a recurring role as a Ghost Nation Warrior in the HBO television series Westworld. More recently, he played an Indigenous Elder in the upcoming movie Killers of the Flower Moon directed by Martin Scorsese. Dionicio Virvez also served as Executive Producer for various Awards specials, including 15th Annual American Society of Young Musicians benefit concert & awards, The 11th Annual Minority Motion Picture Awards and The 13th Annual Diversity Awards.
