Alex talks to Ama and Eliott from the organisation PeriodLink about period poverty and the resulting absenteeism from school. We discussed the issues that girls in some Ghanaian communities face due to a lack of education about the menstrual cycle and sexual health, and what PeriodLink is doing to support a healthy relationship with these subjects.
PeriodLink is a youth-led not-for-profit aiming to keep young women and girls in education by tearing down taboos, providing sexual and menstrual health education as well as providing reusable menstrual products. They work in collaboration and solidarity with local communities and partners on the ground to ensure that the projects deliver long-lasting tangible changes.
Georgie gave us her beautiful Weekly Wisdom on the topic "Open your heart, quieten your mind" along with taking us through a calming breathing practice and a yoga pose that helps during menstruation.
