In today’s episode I’m joined by Temu Igho, a Holistic Midwife Educator and Online Advocate for Women's & Children's Rights.
Embracing the wisdom of an old African proverb, "Aje jo bi de ovo," she approaches midwifery with reverence for the uniqueness of every woman's journey. With a blend of training, motherhood, and a holistic perspective, Temu sees pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period as transformative moments deserving of utmost care and attention.
Having practised as a midwife in Vienna, Temu has come to understand the importance of culturally sensitive support during this sacred time. Her experiences in Spain, Great Britain, and southern and western African countries North and southern American have broadened her perspective, revealing the diverse cultural approaches to childbirth across Europe and beyond.
In Africa , particularly, she was captivated by the naturalness and societal acceptance surrounding pregnancy, as well as the local methods of birth preparation and non-pathologized home births. With each pregnancy and birth, I consider it an honor to contribute my expertise as a midwife, viewing each new life as a miracle and each family's journey as unique and deserving of personalized care and support.
