Episode 231 Use English Greetings Like a Native Speaker!

Today we're covering a common question from students:

It it OK to just answer 'how are you?' with 'I'm fine'.

Yes! We'll also cover it's cultural purpose.

And we'll cover the nuances of these common phrases and greetings:

  • How was your weekend?
  • How have you been?
  • What have you been getting up to?
  • Did you have a good holiday?

And, what do people even mean when they say:

  • Let's grab coffee sometime.
  • We must catch up.
  • Let's do drinks one of these days.
  • We must put something in the diary.

And are they different to:

  • I need to take a rain check.
  • Can we catch up next time.
  • I'm in a bit of a hurry.
  • I've got a lot on my plate right now.
  • Let's put a pin in that.
  • Can we push it?

I hope you find it useful.#emmaseslenglish #englishlisteningpractice #english #englishconversation #englishconversationpractice #englishgreetings
